It includes the whole territory near Ancona and Macerata, according to the production rules and regulations of the Verdicchio di Matelica and the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
Grapevine
At least the 60% must be made, jointly or individually, of the Sangiovese and Montepulciano vines (employed also for the Rosso Piceno, the Rosso Conero and the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba). It is also possible to exploit other authorized red vines up to the 40%.
Organoliptic characteristics
Appearance: Its colour is ruby red.
Scent: Peculiar and strong.
Flavour: Dry taste.
Alcoholic content: Minimum 10.5° C.
Optimum age
It should be drunk when it is young.
