Historical Profile The wine-growing Capinera farm is located in the tiny area of Crocette-Cunicchio in the municipality of Morrovalle, a delightful medieval town, now also the “Città del vino”. The business is managed by the Capinera family who own 41 hectares of the most beautiful hill lands which is the biggest concern in the Province dedicated to wine growing. The land is calcareous and clay in nature and slightly sloping to the south towards the Chienti river valley, at a height of 200 metres above sea level. At present, there are 7.5 hectares of vineyards with mainly red berry grapes. The vines grown are of the Sangiovese and Montepulciano grape variety as for the Rosso Piceno DOC wine, the Maceratino grape variety as for the Colli Maceratesi white as well as producing Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Cabernet and Merlot so as to interpret international species of vines. In order to gain a high standard of quality in our wines, we work both in the vineyard and the winery. In the vineyard, the low yields per hectare (no greater than 6,000 kg) obtained with precise pruning ample spacing, manual grape gathering with small cases and the scrupulous selection at harvest; these are the operations involved in obtaining healthy and mature grapes in perfect harmony. Considerable investments have been undertaken in the winery to acquire modern equipment which allow the maintaining, as far as possible, of an integral and wholesome product and a definite consonance with the fruit itself. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, wine making occurs in modern steel vats, whilst the maturation process and refinement in small French oak barrels. The bottle production is limited in order to check the production process with the necessary care and attention while respecting the tradition of high quality, a long-time characteristic of the company. The gratifying appreciation of the Capinera winery by guides and the wine-making press, has praised the enthusiasm and work of the family all and has also created an interest in the land itself.
The company also produces extra virgin olive oil. |
